Larger groups might like to explore the extensive surviving rooms by themselves, or have a private tour by one of the enthusiastic and expert guides, focussing on Mary, Queen of Scots’ imprisonment or the Civil War, for example. For those seeking a more luxurious and less energetic visit, we can provide a delicious three course lunch in the Great Chamber, with a log fire blazing and exclusive use of this magnificent room. (Minimum group size 30 people)

Illustrated Talks and Lunches
We are delighted to be able to offer a range of fascinating, illustrated talks followed by an exclusive lunch in front of a roaring fire in The Great Chamber. Subjects include The Border Rievers, Mary, Queen of Scots and Medieval Hunting. (minimum group size 30 people)
Talk only: 45 min talk followed by 30 mins questions: £20.00 a head,

Guided Tours
Your group will have the opportunity to take a private guided tour of the castle with one of our experienced guides. Tours can be catered to suit your area of interest with topics including Mary Queen of Scots, Medieval Life and the Civil War. Tours are available for groups of 15 or more at £2.00 per person (plus admission charge) and last for approximately an hour and a quarter.

Audio Guides and Guide Books
For group members preferring to take their own tour of the castle we offer a 50% discount on our Guide Books and Audio guides to enhance your visit. Guide books and audio guides available for £1.50 each and both provide much greater insight to the Castles’ fascinating past.
